is timid and poor, and dumb as he is low in the world. He lives with his wife Myrtle in a small apartment in the city of queens, which happens to be located just above the run-down gas station that he tends. George loves his wife Myrtle and only wishes he could do better for her. When Daisy smashes Myrtle with Gatsby's car George misunderstands and blames Gatsby for Myrtle's death. George feels there is no reason to keep on living, so he lays Gatsby to rest in Gatsby's fancy pool and then turns the pistol on himself.
