Myrtle Wilson is the wife of George Wilson, a poor business owner in queens. Myrtle trys really hard to fit into the scene of wealth and prosparity, yet she doesn't have quite what it takes. In a way she blames it on her husband. Tom Buchanan finds it quite easy to manipulate myrtle by simply making her feel that she is rich and special. In return we can imagine the lengths myrtle would go to please him. This makes for an interesting plot. Look for dog imagry around myrtle, suggesting that myrtle is like Toms Pet or play thing that can be treated as he wishes. As a dog needs its owner myrtle needs toms status. Near the end Myrtle also dies like so many dogs, as Daisy hits her with Gatsby's car as she tries to flag them down.
