Jordan Baker

Jordan Baker,

is the young woman in The Great Gatsby who introduces Gatsby to Nick Carroway, thus indirectly Gatsby to Daisy Buchanan. Jordan is mainly seen around Daisy. Somewhere in the past Daisy and Jordan became the best of friends. Daisy and Tom have noticed the fact that Jordan and Nick are both single and would like very much for them to get together. Jordan likes Nick and enjoys going to parties with him. In short Jordan and Nick are seeing each other, although the book never says that for sure.

Jordan Baker is also very hip on the 1920's party scene, she has short hair and a slim guy-like appearance. She enjoys the loud party scenes in which she can walk through the foolish drunks and unsophisticated ladies and appear as a dignified rich young woman who is better than those around her. Jordan is Carelessly going through life (the theme of The Roaring Twenties). She also tags herself as a hipocrite when she tells Nick "I hate careless People," (being careless herself).
