Nick Carraway:
Nick Carraway tells this story in First person limited omniscient point of view. At the begining of the novel Nick states that, because of what his father told him when he was younger, that he does not judge people. He just tolerates the actions of the people around him and lives with it. However; throughout the last few chapters of the novel all the additudes of the rich, sophistication, and immorality finally start to wear on his self morality and Nick begins to judge the other characters. He approves of Gatsby though, stateing, "He has an estraordinary figt for hope, a romantic readiness such as I have never found in any other person and which it is not likely I shall ever find again."
Nick is from the Mid West, he has come to NewYork to seek business in the bond business. He lives on the West egg side of Long Island (New Money) and is living right next door to our hero, Jay Gatsby. Nick is also Daisy Buchanan's cousin. Nick, along with Jordan Baker, play a great part in Gatsby's reuniting with Daisy. Nick also ties to Tom Buchanan whom Nick went to Yale with years before.
In the end Nick is the one that arranges Gatsby's funeral and is one of the only three that attend it. Nick decides to move back to the west, away from all of the greed and immorality.
Information
on Nick's physical description is not stated very often in the novel. He is
the narrorator and he does not speak of himself very much at all so this section
was a little tough on me.
